It is claimed that the range benefits those at "both ends of the supply chain"

Ethically-minded fashionistas looking for the latest trends can now get their hands on the new collection by a British-based fairtrade boutique.

Online store Bochica has launched its spring/summer 2009 range which showcases items from a range of homegrown and international brands such as Bibico and Terra Plana.

The company, which took its name from a South American god of morals, prides itself on keeping prices "fair at both ends of the supply chain", which has become an increasing issue in recent times.

A number of retailers have been accused of not treating their suppliers and farmers fairly, with speculation mounting that some are choosing to sell goods at inflated prices but not passing profits back to workers in the Third World.

In addition, a poll by YouGov recently found that shoppers would back the creation of a watchdog that would penalise companies, including leading supermarkets, that are guilty of such acts.

According to Bochica founder Emily Best, such issues have not harmed levels of interest in ethical products.

She added: "Many ethical retailers currently offer premium-priced fashion that is often too inaccessible for most consumers. At Bochica we are proud to offer affordable yet wearable brands, making the ethical fashion accessible for everyone."
