Oxfam enters price comparison market
The price comparison site will donate a slice of the commission from each deal to Oxfam
Oxfam has become the unlikely beneficiary of the £1 billion price comparison market through a new website that donates a cut of the commission on each transaction to the charity.
The Compare for Good site functions in same way as other price comparison websites by scouring the internet for the best deals on a range of products, which are then presented to the buyer.
Each successful recommendation of these deals generates a small commission that will go towards the day-to-day running of the website and to Oxfam.
The site has been launched as a charitable venture by entrepreneur Ivan Massow, who developed insurance services for gay men and people with HIV in the 1990s.

Mr Massow said the site could potentially raise "millions of pounds" for the charity, which has witnessed a dramatic drop in donations to its stores during the economic downturn.
Actress Joan Collins, who launched the site, said Compare for Good offered people a "win-win" opportunity, as they could save themselves cash, while also raising money for charity.
Oxfam believes it is the first time a not-for-profit organisation has entered the billion pound price comparison site market in this way.
