Finishing touches are put to the displays at iGrow in Oakland, California: dubbed the "Walmart of weed" by the San Francisco Chronicle, this 15,000sq ft warehouse is believed to be the world's largest medicinal marijuana supplier and the world's first superstore devoted to the drug.
Rest assured that this is no mere "head shop": there's a doctor on site to help dispense the required documentation to those who need it, all of the kit needed to set up for yourself, and a "grow team" who will visit you at home and advise on your cultivation equipment.
California's tolerance of medicinal marijuana has led to criticism from those who saw the law as soft on drug users: the state has recently moved to crack down on laissez-faire distributors of the drug, who supply to those who might not require it as urgently as others.
