Green iPhone apps highlighted
A number of green iPhone apps are available
A new iPhone app is aiming to challenge climate change sceptics by providing them with the info needed to understand the effects and implications of global warming.
Run by John Cook, an Australian solar physicist, Skeptical Science allows users to access a range of arguments from climate change sceptics, and also read what scientists have to say about these theories.
The app, which is free to download, is the latest in a long line of iPhone extras for the eco-aware and its release has prompted Guardian blogger Adam Vaughan to list his top ten.
Featured on the list is the Collins British Wildlife PhotoGuide, which, for £5.99, gives users access to images and details of over 1,500 species ranging from mammals and invertebrates to butterflies and birds.

Anyone conscious of their carbon footprint may also find Commute Greener useful. The tool from Volvo tracks the journeys people make throughout the week and calculates the greenhouse gases they create. It also encourages people to set themselves targets for reducing their emissions.
Other apps for nature lovers include Chirp! Bird Songs of Britain and Europe, Treeld-The British Tree Identification Guide, while Pollution allows people to check how clean the air they are breathing at any given moment is by pulling real-time air pollution data for 1,380 cities worldwide.
One app which garnered praise from the news provider is greenMeter, which is described as the "most innovative environment app for the iPhone". For £3.49 the tool allows users to rate the efficiency of their driving technique by highlighting if they are accelerating aggressively and braking at the last-minute.

"Thanks to an Australian solar physicist by the name of John Cook, you can access those skeptics' arguments, and the science-based counter-arguments, on your iPhone."
So is it a really well cross referenced Bible, where you can take any statement, find a quick quote about the statement and read it to the scientist and convert them to the wisdom of your Good Book?
