A nuclear-free world?

Naomi Isaacs picture

Posted by Naomi Isaacs on Wednesday 23rd September 2009 3:15pm

Leaders of the major world powers are set to reveal their commitment to a nuclear-free world, endorsing Barack Obama's goal to rid the world of nuclear weapons.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown is to reveal the UK's own plans to cut the number of Trident missile-carrying submarines from four to three. The government has already announced they are to reduce the number of nuclear arsenal of warheads from 200 to 160.

What do you make of the news? Do you think we ought to keep our nuclear defences? Do you think the UK will be less safe? Is a nuclear-free world ever possible?
