Milliband urges homeowners to 'go green'
Ed Milliband is hopeful the scheme will be extended across the UK
Eco-conscious homeowners could see their environmental efforts rewarded when the Energy and Climate Change Secretary announces details of a "green loans" scheme, allowing householders to install expensive power-saving technology with the help of Government money.
Ed Milliband, eager to offer people an incentive to improve the energy efficiency of their homes, hopes to overcome prohibitive costs and the fact that people move every nine to 12 years by attaching the loan to the property rather than the applicant.
Around 500 homes in Birmingham, Sunderland, the London borough of Sutton and Stroud have been testing out a £4 million pilot for the Pay As You Save programme.
The trial has seen property owners repay the cost of installing the technology over a long period, allowing the cost benefit to be seen on participants' energy bills. The scheme also allows costs to be paid up-front.
The results of the trial will be announced on Tuesday, with the Government hoping it can form a solid basis on which the energy efficiency of the UK's 22 million existing homes can be improved.

Comments
Ed Milliband ought to find an unbiased scientist to explain to him why the science behind Global Warming is a scam. He and his Energy and Climate Change outfit is going to look utterly foolish soon.
Check out Solar Flux for example. Lack of sunspots during this prolonged minimum suggest cooler weather, which could well explain this record breaking cold winter. Nothing to do with CO2.
If Ed Milliband is not intelligent enough to look up a few sceptic websites and work out the truth for himself then he is't bright enough to be a Government Minister.
