Great Scots back climate law
KT Tunstall is among the celebrities backing the campaign
Famous names from across Scotland have given their backing to the creation of tough new climate change laws in the country.
Celebrities including acclaimed singer-songwriter KT Tunstall and novelist Iain Banks are lending their support to Friends of the Earth's Big Ask Scotland campaign to urge the country's government to promptly introduce major legislation to cut carbon emissions.
The boost for the initiative is timely as ministers at Holyrood are gearing up to amend the climate change bill over this week.
In the build-up to the talks, Scots are being urged to log on to Friends of the Earth Scotland's website and email their MSP calling for action.
Despite global warming being no laughing matter, comedy stars including Frankie Boyle and Still Game's Ford Kiernan have also taken a serious stance on the issue.
Discussing his involvement, Would I Lie to You? and Mock the Week panellist Boyle said everyone has a "once-in-a-generation opportunity" to tackle the issue.
He added: "The politicians are trying, but their proposals are still falling short - it's up to us to persuade them that they need to toughen up their act on climate change.
"Join the Big Ask Scotland campaign and you can be part of the change."
