Protestors will aim to disrupt business meetings in Copenhagen

Environmental protestors will be taking to the streets of Copenhagen today (11th December) to spread the message "our climate – not your business".

According to the organisers, businesses are behind the majority of global CO2 emissions and more pressure needs to be put on them to lower their carbon footprints.

Crowds will gather in Nytorv Square at 10:00 local time in a bid to disrupt meetings taking place as part of the Copenhagen climate change summit and businesses working in the Danish capital.

The event is timed to coincide with the COP15 Business Day, when the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the International Chamber of Commerce will meet with global corporations to hear their views on the climate crisis.

Throughout the morning, participants will travel to various locations, with the aim of creating as much noise and disruption as possible.

Take action

They will be divided into four groups including the noise brigade, charged with using pots, pans and noisemakers to interrupt any meetings taking place, and the visual group, who will spread the protestors' message using banners and posters.

The inside ruckus group will go inside the target corporations to confront the "climate criminals", while the outside ruckus group will block the entrances to the buildings, while "generally causing chaos".
