A host of US celebs have reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro after climbing 19,340ft to raise cash for a water charity.

Actors Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch and Isabel Lucas, musician Lupe Fiasco, photographer Michael Muller and Grammy-award winning artist Kenna are among the famous faces who took part in the Summit on the Summit trek alongside activists and water experts.

The public were invited to sponsor a foot of the challenge to raise funds for a variety of water charities, including the Children's Safe Drinking Water Program, UNHCR and Water for People with PlayPumps.

Speaking as the group reached the summit yesterday (12th January), trip leader Kenna said: "Even with as many grandiose illusions that I have had, this has gone beyond my wildest dreams and expectations."

Overall the trip took the climbers six days, including a seven-hour push to the summit, where they posed for pictures with a "send water" sign.

Kenna was inspired to complete the trek by his father, who lost numerous family members to water-borne illnesses while growing up in Ethiopia.

A host of UK celebrities, including Cheryl Cole, Gary Barlow and Chris Moyles, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise cash for Comic Relief last year.
