The Age of Stupid gets green premiere
Pete Postlethwaite stars in the upcoming film
A new film on climate change has been showcased at a special eco-friendly premiere.
The first screening of The Age Of Stupid took place in a solar-powered cinema tent in Leicester Square last night, with the film's star Pete Postlethwaite arriving in an eco-friendly car.
Other celebrities, including fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and actress Gillian Anderson, also turned up to the event via green transport, including cars powered by fat from local chip shops.
In addition, the premiere of the film, which sees Postlethwaite play a man living in 2055 looking back at footage from the present day and considering why humanity did not save itself from climate change, was also broadcast at over 60 cinemas and venues across the UK.
Organisers hope that the event attracted over 16,000 viewers, making it the largest ever film premiere.
All of the profits from the event are set to go towards the Not Stupid campaign, which has been created to raise awareness of climate change in the run-up to December’s major summit on the topic in Copenhagen.
The Age of Stupid, which was funded by over 220 people who will receive a percentage of its profits, is set to be released in cinemas across the UK from March 20th.
